I have no idea what has happened… but my Chilli Peppers have taken a turn for the worse!
I grew them from seed, nurtured them lovingly on my window sill until they were big enough to be transplanted into their big tub at the bottom of the garden. I found them the perfect spot in a sun corner, protected from winds by the high fence, and away from Liam’s scooter and bike so it wouldn’t get a beating like my rhubarb does!
All has been going perfectly. Its companion, the climbing French dwarf bean, grew at his side. Winding it’s way up the teepee and producing far more beans than we could eat, but still it was happy. The Chilli Peppers soon appeared and began to grow to a very healthy size. We even joked about the fact that I hate peppers and never eat chilli or anything with peppers in and that I would need to find a good chutney, sauce or pickle recipe for them.
I went to check them today, as I always do most days, especially when there has been little rain, and to my horror… they have a bizarre brown spotting on them! I have no idea what this is and I can not find anything on Google that looks similar to this at all.
There are no bugs on the plant, the leaves look alright, the soil seem’s fine. Moist but not bone dry or sodden. The French Dwarf bean is okay… I am completely flumoxed. So I have blogged here in the hope that some one can come to my rescue and tell me what has happened, and how I can rectify it. Have I lost all my Peppers or are they still edible?

I have had a lot of interest in my Fluffles, and a huge amount of requests for different colours. Unfortunately I am quite limited to the colours available to me by my supplier in the Kool Kotton range that I use.

The only way I can gain access to the brighter colours, is by bumping my prices up and purchasing the much more expensive Calico Cottons.

I am more than happy to purchase, make and sell Fluffles at a slightly higher price, but only if there is a demand for the brighter colours. Let me know what you think on my new feedback page!
With Christmas fast approaching (*groan*) and money being tight as always, I thought I might have a go at making something to sell at a Christmas market. In particular, Heighington Christmas Market.
Having found a new addiction in Crochetting, and combined with my Jam making, I decided to do both and quickly put my name down for a stall. Cost was minimal, but that meant that I now had to work out prices and colours for my Bath Puffs. I asked on a few forums for peoples opinions on how much they would pay for a crocheted Bath Puff on it’s own, and in a set with other items… the response was overwhelming. So much so, that I have now made extra work for myself because people want to buy them right now! Continue reading »
It doesn’t happen very often, but I was all alone in the house the other day. Just me, the one eyed terrapin, the goldfish… and the xBox!
The other half had taken Baby Jack out and Liam was at Nursery for his last day. I could have gone to sleep to catch up after four weeks of double night feeds (for Baby Jack, not me! I could have done some housework before we were completely devoured by the enormous washing pile. I could have tended to my garden that was slowly being taken over by triffid style weeds. I could have done some batch cooking and frozen some meals. I could even have jumped in the car and done the weekly shop.
Instead, I dug out and donned my pink woollen leg warmers, back combed my hair to make it stupidly big, stuck some padding into my shirt so that I now fashioned some incredibly large shoulder pads, then strutted into the front room, grabbed a mic, and switched on the TV.
The Boeing 747 xBox started up and before I knew it, I was staring at a list of 80’s hit tunes, just waiting to be belted out at top volume! Continue reading »
Well, it’s been three years running now, three years waiting on a list for an allotment, and three years of sadness over happiness.
My tomato plants have blight again. The pumpkins are covered in larvae (cabbage whites strangely). Something has almost completely devoured the Rhubarb. The French beans are clinging on to their last bit of life despite having hardly any leaves left. The onions are being taken over by weeds, even though I tried my hardest to rescue them. The carrots grew no bigger than 1inch no matter how long I left them in. Finally, the sweetcorn did not even get started but I did try 7 times to germinate them.
The only thing that looks like it might possibly succeed, the Cucumbers.
Because of this, I am giving up home growing until we can afford a place of our own (not ever likely too happen) and I can have a Greenhouse and fruit cage to protect my veggies and fruits. Or if the green fingered fairies sprinkle me with lucky dust and I get an allotment, then I will try again. Until then, farewell my friends.
Good luck my gardening followers!
With baby Jack arriving on time, we were able to attend the Lincolnshire Show again this year, although this time Liam was walking and not in a buggy… which was going to be quite an adventure to be honest. With some pre-planning, I ran to Mothercare and purchased a wristlink for him as reigns were a bit babyish for him and hopefully the ‘leash’ would be seen as something fun and not something bad.
It worked a treat, he wanted to wear it straight away, and this was a day before the Lincs Show! Lets hope it lasts till the day.
We had decided to take our own drinks, and to buy food there. So I had to go shopping again, this time for a cooling bag. George at Asda too the rescue this time with a cooling bag for a couple of pound and freezer blocks for a £1 each. I got 4 so I could line the outside of the bag.
On the morning of the Lincs Show, tickets sat waiting on Ben’s desk, I was more than a little disappointed that my new sandals had not arrived in time, despite me ordering them in plenty of time for them too come, but never mind. I was wearing a real girly outfit consisting in a small khaki frilly skirt, a white off the shoulder top and a white pair of short leggings. My white sandals would of gone perfect, but instead I had to make do with my black ballerina pumps… comfort over style for this one. Liam had his new khaki cargos on to keep him covered yet cool, and a crocodile top so he could “scare the dinosaurs” apparently! Baby Jack had a short sleeve vesty on, and nothing else, he would of been melting if the forecast held true (which it did) of 23 degrees. Continue reading »
Here is Jack Benjamin at 1 day old! Or Yoda as Daddy affectionately renamed him!

Contractions started 3minutes apart on the 12th June at around 10am, I was already 4cms dilated by the time the ambulance arrived.

He was born within 2hrs, only a couple of pushes, Gas & Air and nothing else.

Only 4 days left until my due date, and I am so snappy and irritable.
This is down to many factors, not least the lack of sleep I am currently experiencing, coupled with a toddler under my feet who seems to have turned into some sort of alien species constantly attached to my side until I growl horrendously at him.
Likewise, my poor devoted fiancé is also taking the brunt of my temper, with me constantly swearing, shouting, throwing things, telling him to leave… I have turned into some sort of deranged being that has no control over her emotions or ability to keep cool. Everything is annoying me, everything. Even walking from one room to another seems to be a trial for me and I take down anyone or anything that greets me halfway down the hallway! Continue reading »
I recently found a tutorial for the cutest thing I have ever crocheted to date… a Baby Ruffle Bonnet, and oh, my, goodness… I am completely addicted to making them!
Last night I made six, yes SIX Bonnets! All in one night. I just couldn’t help myself. They are so cute and soft and floppy and gorgeous! I put one on eBay, and within minutes it had already received 29 views, for one little baby bonnet.
Because of this, I have decided to sell all my little bonnets, and I am currently on the look out for a little boy’s baby hat that is just as cute. I can make these Bonnets in any colour you like, and I can even make them larger for toddlers, I also have an adult pattern if you would like one for yourself! These are all uniquely made to order, so if you decide to buy one, please allow me a few days to make, package and post your bonnet.
Just drop me an email at general@knikitta.com including these details:
Size (Baby, toddler, adult)
Colour (Choice is yours, although please be aware that I might need to go out and get that particular colour!)
